In early March, Red Bat Photography was invited by Bunny (she of the long blonde tresses who posed in our studio) to shoot portraits of The Illuminated Destruction Society, a group of creative young people who…well, let’s use Bunny’s description:

“We’re a group called the Illuminated Destruction Society – a circle of individuals (of both sexes) dedicated to reclaiming anachronistic romance and a sort of bohemian/Wiemar Berlin culture. It’s a cross between an ongoing theme party, a role-playing game, and a lifestyle. We tend to meet by candlelight, drink red wine, waltz, and play cards. Everyone in the group has a “stage name” and we have a dress code.”

The portrait session took place at UCSC’s Porter Meadow, and ten people showed up for it, marshalled by Bunny. It was a lovely day for taking pictures outside, and our subjects frolicked and laughed and nobody wanted the shoot to end.

Afterwards, the photographers had cheeseburgers and milkshakes, and it was decided that this is a good way to spend a Friday afternoon.
